Starwood has announced its first Aloft property in Kuala Lumpur, scheduled for an early 2013 opening.
The 482-room property will be located in KL Sentral, next to the new NU Sentral Mall and Lot G mixed-purpose complex, which includes office towers. The hotel will comprise all standard amenities such as five F&B outlets, a gym and swimming pool.
Aloft is one of Starwood’s lifestyle brands in the mid-tier range, but replicates the trendy and sociable feel of the W Hotels, including the focus on music and fashion.
The brand’s first Asian property was Aloft Beijing Haidan in 2008 (see story here), followed by Alofts in Chennai and Bangalore (see story here). An Aloft along Sukhumvit 11 in Bangkok is due to open on December 1, a show of confidence by Starwood in a destination that has experienced debilitating flooding since October (click here for an update on the current situation in Bangkok). As reported earlier, the Aloft in Bangkok will illustrate the first "second generation" version of the brand drawing on more elements from the W brand (see story here).
