Fog causes disruption at London airports

21 Nov 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Fog continues to cause delays and disruption at airports including Heathrow and London City, although the situation has improved since yesterday.

Heathrow airport's website advises that "Some arriving and departing flights have been cancelled today at Heathrow, due to weather conditions in both the UK and Northern Europe". It advises passengers to contact their airline for further information.

BA has updated its website at 0645 this morning to say that "Poor visability at London airports caused traffic flow restrictions. We anticipate disruption to our services today, Monday 21 November".

London City says that "Visibility has improved at London City Airport this morning and flights are returning back to schedule, but some flights may experience delays".

The adverse weather conditions are also affecting selected airports in northern Europe. The Met Office's UK forecast for today advises of "Patchy fog and low cloud slowly lifting, although locally lingering into the afternoon in the east. Elsewhere, generally rather cloudy with outbreaks of rain in western UK. Skies may brighten in places. Feeling mild but staying colder in the fog".
