Kerry Hotel, Beijing, unveils completed refurbishment

27 Oct 2011

Shangri-La’s Kerry Hotel, Beijing, located within Beijing’s CBD, unveiled the final phase of its extensive refurbishment project, which spruced up the hotel’s lobby and ballroom, while also expanding and enhancing its dining outlets.

As previously reported (see story here), the first phase of the refurbishment project focused on giving the Club rooms and suites a major facelift by introducing new technology and colour schemes.

Now, the hotel has unveiled a newly reconfigured lobby boasting eye-catching art, from the sparkling spiral glass artwork by German artiste Josepha Gasch-Muche to a video art piece by Macau-born artist Cindy Ng played on a high speed digital loop screen.

The former all-day dining restaurant Bento & Berries has been renovated and is now called Kerry’s Kitchen. The casual café-feel of Bento & Berries has been replaced with a more sophisticated and fresh ambience by using natural elements, such as Izumi stones, wood and sand textured walls.

Kerry’s Pantry replaces the Coffee Garden, offering a gourmet deli either to relax in or to grab a quick bite, while the hotel’s bar and lounge, Centro, has been expanded to include a new outdoor bistro terrace area thus expanding its capacity.

Finally, the 1,560 sqm grand ballroom has now been fitted with new audio-visual equipment, such as built-in LED projectors.
