Apply for your new passport now, says Home Office

21 Oct 2011 by BusinessTraveller

The Identity and Passport Service is advising travellers to apply for their new passport over the next few weeks to avoid the “New Year rush”.

The IPS says that now until Christmas is low season for passport applications, and those opting to renew now can expect a “rapid service”, with straightforward renewals taking on average as little as ten days.

The passport agency is also reminding travellers that they can carry over up to nine months unexpired time from their existing passport, meaning anyone with a passport expiring before July 18 next year can apply now and carry over all unexpired time.

Standard renewal of an adult passport costs from £77.50 – for more information visit direct.gov.uk.
