The Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur has opened a new 24-hour restaurant, Mosaic, to replace the former Biba's Cafe.
The aptly named Mosaic serves a colourful mix of local Malaysian and international cuisine. Live cooking stations will put together Malaysian food alongisde Indian tandoori delicacies, sushi, sashimi, and Chinese dim sum baskets. Mosaic will also be the new spot where daily buffet breakfasts are served, instead of at Biba's Cafe where it used to be served.
The restaurant is designed by Spin Design Studio, the same Japanese firm behind the restaurants and lounge bar at the new glitzy Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong. The firm has bought Peranakan culture to the fore, using traditional decor and intricate mosaic walls and columns. The restaurant consists of two private dining venues for up to 10 people at a time.
