Passengers travelling from Manchester airport's Terminal 1 can expect delays today after the building was evacuated this morning following the discovery of a suspicious bag.
A statement on the airport's website said that "At 10:20 today (Wednesday 21st September), Terminal 1 departures at Manchester Airport was evacuated while a suspicious bag was investigated at the main security search area by Greater Manchester Police.
"An evacuation is a standard precautionary measure while the investigation is completed to ensure the safety of our passengers and staff.
"Disruption to the 11 flights departing from Terminal 1 is possible this morning while we resolve the situation. Passengers travelling from Terminal 1 are advised to come to the airport as planned. Arriving flights are not affected.
"Terminals 2 and 3 are operating normally."
Airlines departing from Terminal 1 include Aer Lingus, Air Berlin, Cyprus Airways, Emirates, Etihad, Finnair, Germanwings, Icelandair, Jet2, Lufthansa, Monarch and SAS.
