Zurich Airport is to see new hotels, conference and event facilities and restaurants added as part of a 200,000sqm development slated for completion by 2017.
Billed as “the first global location with the ambience of a small town and the synergies of a big city”, The Circle at Zurich Airport will be located adjacent to the airport and will be designed by Japanese architectural firm, Riken Yamamoto & Field Shop.
The development will feature “seven autonomous modules which will feature globally recognised luxury hotel brands, conference and event facilities, restaurants and a health and beauty centre complete with outpatient clinic”.
Hotel, serviced apartment and events space will take up 38,000sqm of the complex. Partner brands have yet to be announced, but a press release says visitors will be offered a choice of premium and budget hotels, with around 500 rooms in total. The development will also comprise office space and a health and beauty module, offering services including medical diagnostics, dentistry, cosmetic surgery and spa treatments.
