Qatar Airways is set to increase frequencies on both its Rome and Milan routes towards the end of this year.
Rome is currently served nonstop daily from Doha, but this will increase to twice daily from December 1, with a new lunchtime departure from Doha (1315), and an evening service from Rome (2220).
Then from January 1, 2012, Qatar Airways will add four further weekly flights to its existing daily Milan service, departing on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
The new services to both Italian cities will be operated by A320 aircraft, as opposed to the A330s used on existing flights.
Among the other major Gulf carriers, Emirates flies to both Rome and Milan, while Etihad Airways operates services to Milan, and Gulf Air also flies to Milan, with a new route to Rome set to start on November 30 (see online news August 24).
