Air France-KLM announces orders for A350s and B787s

16 Sep 2011 by ScottCarey7

Air France-KLM has announced a huge long-haul aircraft order. The order comprising 110 in total is for 50 firm orders and 60 options for the wide body Airbus A350-900 XWB and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

This order means that Air France-KLM will be operating 73 next generation aircraft by 2024, namely 43 Airbus A350-900 and 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.

The first Boeing 787-9 order is planned to enter into service with KLM in 2016 and the first Airbus A350-900 with Air France in 2018. Both carriers will eventually operate each type of aircraft.

The deal will soon be firmed up with memoranda of understanding signed with Airbus, Boeing and Rolls Royce. Finalised contracts are expected to be signed by the end of the year.
