The St Regis Tianjin and Sanya are both poised to open in October and November respectively.
The 276-room St Regis Tianjin, located in the Heping financial district, is a remarkable 18-storey glass and steel structure in the shape of a hollow cube resembling a “gateway”.
The hotel will consist of the signature St Regis butler service, five F&B offerings including the renowned Decanter and St Regis Bar brands, a gym with personal trainers, an indoor heated pool and the Iridium spa. In addition to these signature services, the hotel will also be home to what it claims is the city’s largest Presidential suite.
For the business traveller, there will be 2,700sq m of meeting space, secretarial services and a business centre.
The 401-room St Regis Sanya resort, located along Yalong Bay, will offer a completely different flavour.
Designed by Brennan Beer Gorman Architects, the resort’s architecture is based on a concept of two intertwined dragons with the guestroom wings shaped like “dragon backs” while the interior designs are inspired by the hotel’s sea and sand surroundings.
The hotel offers guests 800m of exclusive beach access, four F&B outlets, the Iridium spa, tennis courts, a children’s club and, of course, the St Regis butler service.
Guestrooms at both properties will be equipped with iPod docking stations, wifi internet access and Remède bath amenities.
These two properties will be the brand’s fourth and fifth properties in China, after the St Regis Beijing, Shanghai and Lhasa. In the pipeline, the group has another five opening over the next few years. The twin openings are part of Starwood’s overall expansion on the Mainland, which includes growing the portfolio to 115 properties by the end of 2012 (see story here).
