Singapore Airlines purchases eight new B777-300ERs

10 Aug 2011

Singapore Airlines has ordered eight additional Boeing B777-300ERs as part of its plans to phase out older aircraft and to facilitate the carrier’s network expansion plans.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2013, which will then be deployed on medium- and long-haul routes. These eight aircraft, with a three-class configuration, will join the carrier’s existing fleet of 19 B777-300ERs, bringing the total to 27 of this aircraft type.

Goh Choon Phong, chief executive of SIA, said: “The order is in line with our longstanding policy of operating a young and modern fleet.” The aircraft will also “help support our ongoing programme to further strengthen the SIA network.”
