German air traffic control strike called off... again

9 Aug 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Today's planned strike by German air traffic control union GdF has been called off, following the initiation of fresh talks.

Union members had been set to strike between 0600 and 1200 today (August 9), but German flag carrier Lufthansa has confirmed on its website that Air Traffic Control authority DFS has announced mediation talks with the union.

The airline says it expects to operate normal flight operations, although flight times of several services to Frankfurt, Munich and Dusseldorf have been changed, and some flights between South America and Germany have also been delayed.

It's the second time strikes have been called and then called off by GdF - last week industrial action was abandoned at the last minute following an injunction (see online news August 4).
