German air traffic control strike back on

8 Aug 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Germany's GdF union is planning to strike between 0600 and 1200 local time tomorrow, following the postponement of industrial action last week.

The air traffic control union had been due to strike on Thursday August 4, but the strike was called off following an injunction granted in favour of air traffic control authority DFS (see online news August 4).

German flag carrier Lufthansa has posted a warning on its website about the "possibility of a air traffic contollers strike in Germany on Tuesday August 9 between 6 am and 12 pm", and says it will post updates here when it has further information.

Should the strike take place it is likely to affect flights operating over the country, as well as those departing from and arriving into German cities.
