Emirates to serve Rome with A380

27 Jul 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Emirates will operate one of its twice-daily flights between Dubai and Rome with the A380 from December 1, following a one-off superjumbo service last month to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the city’s Leonardo da Vinci airport (see online news May 4).

The carrier will operate EK97 with the superjumbo, departing Dubai at 0910 and arriving in Rome at 1235. The return leg EK98 will leave the Italian city at 1435 and land back in Dubai at 2305.

Earlier this week Emirates announced the start of A380 flights to Kuala Lumpur, also from December 1 (see online news July 26), making it the first carrier to serve Malaysia with the superjumbo. The airline will also commence A380 flights to Johannesburg on October 1, followed by Munich on January 1, 2012.

Routes currently served by one of Emirates’ 15 superjumbos include London Heathrow (double-daily), Manchester, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Toronto, Seoul, Bangkok, Beijing, Shanghai, Jeddah, New York, Hong Kong, Sydney and Auckland.
