British Airways is to modernise its Club World and First check-in areas at New York JFK over the next few months, with the aim of providing “a calmer sense of space that’s reminiscent of a hotel lobby”.
The carrier operates from Terminal 7 at JFK, and plans to start work on the refurbishment programme on June 17, with completion scheduled for late August / early September.
According to a post on ba.com, “the new look concourse will provide a calmer sense of space that’s reminiscent of a hotel lobby, with new lighting that complements the lounge feel and on-board experience”. There will also be new seating providing premium customers with “more comfort and space for you to prepare prior checking in and going through security”.
BA warns customers some areas of the concourse will be closed off while the works take place, but says that it will do “everything we can to minimise the impact on your journey”.
The carrier says that the modernisation is part of a refurbishment programme at the airport, which includes redesigned lounges.
BA currently leases Terminal 7 at JFK, although it is also used by Oneworld carriers including Cathay Pacific, Iberia and Qantas, as well as Star Alliance members United Airlines, US Airways and ANA.
