Strike disrupts Heathrow Express services

27 May 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Industrial action has forced Heathrow Express to operate an amended timetable today (May 27) and tomorrow.

Heathrow Express will only operate half-hourly trains on May 27 and 28, between 8am and 8pm. Journey times will be as normal.

The walk-out by some 300 Heathrow Express members of the RMT union is over pay.

Bob Crow, the transport union’s general secretary, said Heathrow Express had “tabled a completely unacceptable pay offer”.

He said: “Despite a massive vote for action by our members it has made no attempt to negotiate or improve its position.

“We are ready to negotiate seriously to put in place a fair pay package that will take us through the Olympics period and recognises the contribution our members make to delivering a highly successful and profitable service, and we need the company to show the same commitment.”
