Oakwood Apartments, a global serviced apartment group, will soon debut in Hong Kong's upscale Mid Levels East upscale neighbourhood.
The property is located on Kennedy Road, which is a short walk to Central, the Pacific Place shopping mall above the Admiralty MTR station and Wanchai.
There are 24 one-bedroom serviced apartments housed within a 27-storey building. However, the fourth and 24th floors are not used due to the local superstition that four is an unlucky number. Each level houses just one apartment, measuring about 60sqm and consisting of a washing machine, a fully equipped kitchen (including three refrigerators and an oven), a large bathroom and both cable and wifi internet access.
For corporates, the round-the-clock reception can provide basic services, such as printing or photocopying.
Though Oakwood Mid Levels East does not have its own gym, the management is looking to partner with nearby gyms, either in Wan Chai or in Admiralty that guests can have access to.
Despite stiff competition from nearby serviced apartments, such as the Ovolo Serviced Apartments about five minutes away, Richole Tam, residence manager, claims the property will easily find favour. “We’ve already gotten several enquiries and we’re looking to a positive start,” she said. “Though our apartments are close to Central, they are very quiet and away from all the hustle.”
With this new member, Oakwood will have a total of five properties across China and three more in the pipeline for Chengdu, Guangzhou and Tianjin, all of which will open by the end of 2012.
Opening rates between now and October 31, start from HK$36,000 (US$4,633) per month, inclusive of internet, utilities and housekeeping.
