Hertz has announced it will soon offer The Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric vehicle to its UK fleet and Connect by Hertz scheme.
The car rental firm has introduced two of the cars into its Connect by Hertz car-sharing scheme (for more information on the scheme click here), and plans to add further i-MiEVs to its UK fleet throughout 2011.
Hertz is also providing 16 pairs of charging points at its branches at London City Airport, Heathrow Airport, Russell Square (London), Marble Arch (London), Old Kent Rd (London), and Uxbridge. Customers will also have access to the Source London public charging points being rolled out across the capital by 2013.
The Mitsubishi i-MiEV has a range of over 90 miles, and can be charged in 30 minutes using a quick charging unit, or in seven hours via a standard UK power socket.
The announcement adds to last year's agreement between Hertz and Nissan to bring the Nissan Leaf electric car to US and European markets (see online news February 13, 2010).
