BA to increase LCY-Scotland frequencies

13 Apr 2011 by BusinessTraveller

BA’s Cityflyer subsidiary is to add extra frequencies to its routes from London City to Glasgow and Edinburgh, using Embraer 190 aircraft.

From May 2 the carrier will add an eighth daily Edinburgh flight, leaving the Scottish capital at 0745, and departing London City at 2050. A fifth daily service will also be added to its LCY-Glasgow route, departing Glasgow at 1900. The afternoon flights leaving LCY bound for Glasgow will be adjusted to allow departures at 1700 and 1819 (adding to the 0835, 1420 and 2000 services).

Both services will be operated by an 98-seater Embraer E190 aircraft, which will also be rostered on to another of the carrier’s morning flights between LCY and Glasgow.

In total BA says that capacity on the LCY-Glasgow route will increase by 32 per cent, and by 23 across its Scottish routes from London City airport.

BA Cityflyer has a total of 11 Embraer jets serving routes out of London City (six of the E170 version, and five of the larger E190s). For more information on these aircraft see online news September 4, 2009.
