Air New Zealand and Etihad Airways have received government approval for a code-share agreement on flights between New Zealand and the Middle East, as well as trans-Tasman and domestic services.
The agreement will be implemented immediately and apply to all tickets sold after April 14 for travel from April 18 onwards.
The arrangement will see Air New Zealand’s NZ code on Etihad’s services to and from Abu Dhabi and Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne as well as flights between Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow.
Etihad will code share on Air New Zealand’s trans-Tasman services linking Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Rotorua and Queenstown to Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne as well as the carrier’s domestic services.
Furthermore, the agreement will also integrate the Air New Zealand Airpoints and Etihad Guest loyalty programmes, enabling frequent flyers to earn and redeem on the two carrier’s flights.
