Wyndham Hotel Group has announced its continuing eastern expansion with the signing of seven new properties across India for its Ramada and Days Inn brands.
The US based group has been steadily growing its Asia-Pacific portfolio, rolling out flagship hotels in China and India earlier this year (see online news December 6, 2010) to add to its already extensive portfolio of 325 properties across Asia.
This latest announcement will strengthen the company’s presence in India specifically, (see online news March 31) adding to the 12 hotels that are already open and operating and the eight properties that are currently under development in the market.
Ken Greene, managing director for Wyndham Hotel Group, Asia Pacific sees the signings as testament to the group’s continued growth in this area, stating that, “Seven signings in one day is a huge event for us and strengthens our market and global presence.”
Six of the properties will operate under the Ramada brand, including the five-storey, 100-room Ramada Chennai Goldsouk Vandaloor, which will be part of the premium Gold Souk Grande retail and food development due to open in March 2012, as well as two 120-room hotels located in Hisar and Kochi, both due to open in April 2014.
The 120-room Ramada Luhiana Goldsouk GT Road hotel, due to open in January 2015, will be part of the India International Habitat Center which includes a convention centre, apartments, office space and retail outlets and the Ramada Dehradun Rajipur Road hotel, which boasts its own private golf course and is located 24km from Dehradun airport is set to open in December 2011. All hotels will feature extensive business, banquet, leisure and meeting facilities.
Wyndham will also open its fourth Days Inn property in India, located in Raipur, 9km from Raipur domestic airport and featuring business, meeting and fitness centre. The hotel will become part of a larger retail and entertainment development due to open in 2014.
