Gurgaon to get metro rail system by 2013

Rapid Metro Rail Gurgaon plans to roll out a metro system for Delhi’s satellite city by 2013, an announcement made on the company’s website.

The network will span over 6.1km connecting Gurgaon to Delhi Metro via Sikanderpur station.

The trains will be built with scratchproof aluminium to suit the sprawling urban environment of Gurgaon and will be equipped with air-conditioning and humidity controls for the searing heat during the summer and monsoon seasons.

According to a study funded by the Rapid Metro company, potential train passenger traffic is expected to reach 360,314 per day by 2015 as the city continues to grow. The train network will therefore meet a growing demand.
