United Continental Holdings announced the expansion of United's mobile check-in and boarding passes service for international routes, which will streamline procedures and allow passengers to check in on the go.
Check in through the carrier’s website is now allowed 24 hours before departure from a web-enabled smartphone. The boarding passes facility is also available for passengers departing from airports in London, Munich, Amsterdam, Brussels, Geneva, Zurich, Moscow and Osaka. The service will eventually be introduced at Frankfurt Airport, Tokyo Narita International Airport and Hong Kong International Airport.
The mobile boarding passes consist of a bar code that can be scanned and validated directly at security checkpoints and boarding gates. Currently, the airline offers the facility at 62 US airports.
Partner carrier, Continental Airlines, already offers the service at 70 airports, both international and domestic. Passengers taking the carrier can also check in through its website.
