Hilton Worldwide has signed an agreement to open two hotels at St Georges Park, the UK Football Association’s new National Football Centre in Burton on Trent.
The development will house two Hilton properties in the same building – a Hilton Hotels and Resorts hotel alongside a Hampton by Hilton – with both due to open summer 2012.
The 142-room Hilton at St Georges will offer 91 standard and 41 executive rooms, plus 14 suites, as well as a restaurant and bar. The 130sqm of event space will house a lecture theatre, “flexible seminar rooms” and a library. Spa and gym space will amount to 120sqm.
Guests of the 86-room Hampton by Hilton, Hilton’s “economy brand”, will also be able to use the facilities of the higher-end property next door.
Other Hilton hotels close to UK sports grounds include the Doubletree by Hilton Milton Keynes, housed in the MK Dons stadium, and the Hilton Wembley slated to open next year.
Five Hilton and seven Hampton by Hilton hotels are scheduled to open in the UK between now and 2013. A Hampton by Hilton to be housed within Gatwick airport’s North terminal is scheduled to open in time for the 2012 Olympic Games in London (see online news October 19).
