Iberia to fly Barcelona-Sao Paulo

15 Mar 2011 by AndrewGough

Iberia is the latest carrier to announce a new direct service between Barcelona and Sao Paulo, following in the footsteps of Singapore Airlines.

Iberia’s twice-weekly service, commencing on June 19, will compete against SIA’s thrice-weekly one beginning on March 28, thereby giving consumers more choice on the route.

Flight IB6853, a 254-seat A340-300, will depart from Barcelona at 2100 on Wednesdays and Sundays, landing at Sao Paulo at 0330 the next day. The return flight, IB6852, will depart Sao Paulo on Mondays and Thursdays at 1350, arriving in Barcelona at 0540 the following day.

SIA by comparison will serve Sao Paulo, its first South American destination, with a B777-300ER featuring its latest premium class product. Flight SQ68, originating in Singapore, will stop at Barcelona on its way to Sao Paulo on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays (see online news January 12).
