Swiss enhances first class in-flight service

25 Feb 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Swiss is adding several new in-flight benefits to its first class service, including an a la carte dining concept on night flights, fine bone chinaware, and new amenity kits and pyjamas.

From the start of March the carrier will replace its night flight trolley service with an a la carte offering, allowing passengers to choose what and when they eat. There will also be a larger breakfast selection including fresh boiled eggs and Swiss Birchermüsli, and the introduction of an individual arrival service on day flights.

The carrier is also introducing “contemporary fine bone chinaware and elegant Riedel glasses” in its first class cabins. Meals are also being enhanced, with new traditional Swiss choices including bratwurst mit rösti (veal sausage with hash browns), and an expanded a la carte selection being offered prior to landing.

Finally Swiss will also be introducing new first class amenity kits, pyjamas and blankets over the next few months. Items will include “luxurious sofa/lounge style blankets and pillows” designed by Caroline Flueler, and new Bally amenity kits featuring La Prairie products.

Swiss launched its latest first class suites in March 2009 (see online news January 22, 2009), with the product currently available on its A330-300 aircraft “on selected routes”.
