Finnair adds pre-departure communications

25 Feb 2011 by BusinessTraveller

The carrier is to start sending pre-departure emails to its passengers, with information on baggage allowance, online check-in services and lounge access.

A total of three emails will be sent, and will be tailored to the customer’s travel class, loyalty tier and destination.

The first message will be sent 14 days before departure, with information including baggage allowance, and links enabling customers to change their seat,  join the carrier’s Finnair Plus loyalty scheme, etc. Business class customers will also “soon” be able to order alternative meals prior to their flight.

The second email will be sent the day before departure, with links to online check-in services, and information on priority security lanes and lounge access for premium passengers. Finally a third email will be sent before the return flight, again with a link to online check-in.

Emails will be sent in Finnish, Swedish or English depending on the language preference held in the customer’s Finnair Plus profile.
