Easyjet will launch routes from Aberdeen to Gatwick in June, followed by new services from Edinburgh to Athens, Tenerife and Grenoble in September.
The low-cost carrier’s daily route between Aberdeen and London Gatwick will commence on June 3, adding to Easyjet’s existing flights between Aberdeen and London Luton.
The new services from Edinburgh will all start in September, with a twice-weekly Tenerife route commencing on September 19, and a three-times weekly Athens service starting on September 20. The Grenoble route is also set to commence in September, although the frequency and exact launch date have not yet been published by Easyjet.
The Athens route will be of interest to travellers based in the Edinburgh catchment area, as there are currently no direct services from Scotland to the Greek capital.
The new Edinburgh routes will be operated by a new 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft being based at the airport, and Easyjet will also replace one of its four existing aircraft at Glasgow airport with an A320, enabling it to carry 40,000 additional passengers from the city per year.
