Qatar doubles Manchester frequencies

22 Feb 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Qatar Airways will offer twice the number of weekly flights between Manchester and Doha from this June.

The carrier currently flies daily from Manchester, but with timings split between a morning departure on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and an afternoon departure on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

From June 1 Qatar will fill in the gaps in both schedules, meaning the carrier will offer daily morning and afternoon services from Manchester, and nighttime and morning flights from Doha. The full schedule from June is detailed below.

The new flights will provide greater choice for those living in the Manchester catchment area, and also means travellers heading to and from Australia will be able to connect every day onto Qatar’s Melbourne service. The connecting opportunities are on the afternoon flight from Manchester, and the morning flight from Doha.

Commenting on the increase in frequency CEO Akbar Al Baker said that “Manchester has long proved to be one of our successful routes, so it was only a matter of time before we could deploy additional capacity into this market”.

Qatar operates two-class A330-200 aircraft on the Manchester-Doha route, with up to 275 seats in economy and 30 in business class.
