SIA offers special fares for A380 Singapore-Tokyo-LA route

14 Feb 2011

As reported in December by Business Traveller (see story here), Singapore Airlines will deploy its double-decker Airbus A380 on the Singapore-Tokyo-Los Angeles route from March 27, 2011 onwards, replacing the Boeing 747-400 previously used on this route.

To inaugurate the deployment of the superjumbo on this route, SIA is offering special round-trip fares. Business class rates start from JPY250,000 (US$3,002) between Narita and Los Angeles and from JPY198,000 (US$2,378) between Singapore and Narita for travel on or after March 27.

The switch not only increases passenger capacity but is also part of the carrier’s plans to eventually phase out the older B747 aircraft.
