Marriott International has come up with a new spa concept – Saray Spa – choosing the Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel as its launchpad. The plan is to eventually roll out similar facilities in other Middle East properties, including the JW Marriott Hotel in Tripoli, Marriott Doha City Center Hotel and JW Marriott Marquis Dubai.
The concept is rooted in traditional techniques such as the rituals of the hammam and local ingredients such as mud from the Dead Sea, honey, pomegranate or yogurt.
Sharilyn Abbajay, vice-president of spa for Marriot International, said: “Saray brings back wonderful ancient remedies to help regain calm.”
Currently, 170 Marriott International properties throughout the world feature spa amenities, as will the 90 planned hotels by 2013.
