Gulf Air has introduced personal media players across its entire fleet ahead of a complete overhaul of its existing IFE system.
Passengers flying in Falcon Gold or First, both long and short haul, can now watch movies and television programmes, listen to music or play games on touch screen media players from US-based technology provider Digecor.
Gulf Air CEO Samer Majali also hinted at a “major” overhaul of its existing IFE and business services, with firm details yet to come.
“The portable entertainment solution from Digecor is just the beginning of a major revamp of our total onboard entertainment and business support services that we will start introducing across our fleet from early next year,” said Majali.
A spokesperson for the Bahrain national carrier said that plans had progressed “beyond the concept stage”, but could not give further details at this time.
The Digecor devices will complement the existing IFE on long haul aircraft such as the A330-200s and A340-300s, and add 1,500 new US, Arabic, Hindi, Filipino, Islamic and children’s titles.
