Sheraton opens Malpensa airport hotel

25 Jan 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Starwood’s Sheraton brand has officially opened its new-build property at Milan Malpensa. The 433-room hotel has direct access to the airport’s Terminal 1.

The exterior shell of the Sheraton Milan Malpensa Airport Hotel and Conference Centre was created by Italian firm King Roselli Architects, and is designed to resemble an aeroplane, with “curvy facades” and two lateral wings housing the hotel’s guest rooms.

All rooms are soundproofed, and there are 19 suites and 58 Club Rooms, along with a 200sqm club lounge. Rooms feature 32 or 40-inch flatscreen TVs, wired and wifi internet access, and the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed with 200-thread count linen and goose feather

For meetings there is over 2,000sqm of conference space, including a hall accommodating up to 1,000 people, 22 further meeting rooms and a Link@Sheraton hub in association with Microsoft.

Leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool and fitness centre, five spa treatment rooms, a solarium, sauna, and steam bath, Mediterranean Il Canneto Restaurant, and Monte Rosa Bar.

The new Sheraton property, which had its official inauguration this week, joins three other Starwood hotels in the Italian city: the Sheraton Diana Majestic, Milan, the The Westin Palace, Milan, and the Four Points by Sheraton Milan Centre. A W hotel is also set open in Milan 2012.
