Starwood to open four hotels in Muscat

24 Jan 2011 by BusinessTraveller

The group is set to open W, Westin and Element-branded properties in Oman’s capital in 2013, and will also reopen its renovated Sheraton hotel later this year.

Few details have been released on the new hotels as yet, but Starwood has confirmed that the W, Westin and Element properties will add 700 rooms to the city’s hotel offering.

The Sheraton Oman has been closed for several years for refurbishment, and had been due to open late last year (see Muscat hotels round-up). Starwood says that the property will now open “this year” following extensive renovations.

Elsewhere in the Middle East Starwood will open two St Regis hotels in Abu Dhabi and a further property in Doha this year, followed by a Sheraton hotel in Sharjah, a Le Meridien hotel in Doha and an Aloft property in Riyadh in 2013, and a St Regis hotel in Jordan in 2014.

The group is also set to open five Four Points by Sheraton hotels in the region by the end of 2013, joining six existing properties, and will also add four W hotels in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Amman and the aforementioned Muscat by the end of 2014.

Starwood says that by 2015 all nine of its brands will be present in the Middle East.
