IHG to open two hotels overlooking Olympic Park

11 Jan 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Intercontinental Hotels Group is to open Holiday Inn and Staybridge properties in the Westfield Stratford City complex adjacent to the London Olympic Park.

Both hotels are scheduled to open ahead of the 2012 Games, with a total of 350 rooms across the two properties. Holiday Inn is the offical sponsor of the London 2012 Olympics.

Cycas Hotel Partners and Patron Capital have acquired the long-term leasehold rights for the hotels, which will be operated by subsidiary Cycas Hospitality under a franchise agreement with IHG.

The four-star Holiday Inn London-Stratford City will feature 188 rooms, while the Staybridge Suites London-Stratford City will have 162 suites, and will join properties in Liverpool and Newcastle as the third Staybridge hotel in the UK.

The 1.9 million square-foot Westfield Stratford City development includes retail, leisure, office and residential space, and is located next to Stratford regional station, with access to the Central and Jubilee underground lines, the Docklands Light Railway and overground rail services.

Premier Inn announced last year that it would open a 267-room hotel close to the Olympic Park in time for the 2012 Games – see online news March 10, 2010.
