App of the week

Barcoo

Available for iPhone, Android and other smartphones

Barcoo is a new mobile phone app designed for ethical consumers. Free to download, barcoo includes all the traditional features of a barcode scanner as well as a new traffic light rating system for environmentally and health conscious shoppers. It gives consumers instant access to factual company information from a number of sources. By using the camera on a mobile phone to scan a product barcode, Barcoo shows both a price comparison and whether the brand has responsible manufacturing processes. It also provides nutritional information, and flags up whether your favourite type of fish (for example) is endangered or not.
