Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts will follow up the launches of two Shangri-La properties in Bangalore and Mumbai next year and in the early part of 2012 with a Traders Hotel in Chennai, also in 2012.
The group first entered India some years ago with Shangri-La's Eros Hotel New Delhi.
The mid-scale product will form part of a multi-purpose complex, also consisting of the MARG Junction mall, office blocks and serviced residences, along Old Mahabalipuram Road and a short distance from Siruseri IT Park.
Catering for the business traveller, all 246 rooms will be equipped with wireless and internet access, and a total of 2,236sqm meeting and function space will be available.
Other facilities will include a cafe, restaurant, lounge, gym, a 25-metre outdoor swimming pool and Shangri-La's signature CHI spa.
