SWISS rolls out BlackBerry application

9 Dec 2010

SWISS has launched a new BlackBerry application enabling passengers to check-in, study flight schedules and make reservations on the road.

The free application, available in English, French, German and Italian, will allow users to check-in and choose seats on their phone up to 23 hours before departure time. The electronic boarding pass will then be sent to them via email or text message. Members of the SWISS Miles and More programme can connect their profile to the application to check their previously booked flights.

Furthermore, the application enables users to access the SWISS timetable, up-to-date flight status information and offers the option to purchase flight tickets. It also uses the gadget's GPS system to tap into the user’s location and provide them with flight status updates in the nearest airport.

Later this month, SWISS will also launch the "iPhone Launcher", which is an application consisting of handy links that redirects users to the useful sections of its mobile website such as flight status, check-in, booking and timetable of mobile.swiss.com.

The BlackBerry application can be downloaded from the App World or on www.swiss.com/blackberry and the iPhone application will soon be available in the app store.
