WorldHotels, the hotel marketing services specialist, plans to increase presence in mainland China, targeting hotels in secondary cities and forming more airline partnerships.
Roland Jegge, vice president of WorldHotels Asia-Pacific, told Business Traveller that he expected their 2011 member portfolio to include properties in Shenyang, Changsha, Chongquing, Hainan and Xiamen.
“The plan is to expand in secondary cities while maintaining a quality of service amongst our members,” Jegge said. He cited the Nanjing Lakeview Xuanwu Hotel, winner of the WorldHotels 2010 Best Hotel in Asia-Pacific award and a prime example of a player trying to build a reputation in China's fiercely competitive market for high delivery standards.
In addition, the group is working on more airline tie ups to provide guests added benefits when staying at their member properties. This includes local carriers such as Air China among others.
