IHG has opened a 218-room Holiday Inn hotel located within the MediaCityUK development, which will be home to more than 2,300 BBC staff from next year.
The Holiday Inn Manchester MediaCityUK joins four existing Holiday Inn properties in the city, and three Holiday Inn Express hotels, with a fourth currently under development by the MEN arena.
The new Holiday Inn features 218 rooms, a gym, three meeting rooms, The Green Room restaurant, and The Hub Bar.
MediaCityUK is located in Salford Quays, around 20 minutes from the city’s airport, and with a new tram station and links to the M602.
The mixed-use development will house office space, shops, restaurants, apartments and a five-acre public plaza. In 2011 the BBC will relocate staff in its BBC Breakfast, Radio 5 Live, Children’s Sport, Learning, and Future Media and Technology departments from London to the new complex.
