BAA delays Heathrow terminal moves

24 Nov 2010 by BusinessTraveller

BAA has delayed the moves of Qatar Airways and Saudi Airlines from T3 to T4, although Air Mauritius is set to move across today as planned.

Qatar Airways had also been due to move operations to T4 today (November 24), but as detailed on our forum this has been delayed until December 8 “to allow for essential developments to the baggage handling system at our new terminal which will assist us in offering our customers a hassle-free and enjoyable travel experience”.

Saudi Airlines had advised its customers in September that it would be moving to T4 on December 1, but its website says this has now been delayed “until further notice”, due to “issues with the airport infrastructure”.

A spokesperson for BAA apologised for the delay, saying that following the opening of Terminal 5 in April 2008, the operator wanted to be absolutely sure that the baggage handling infrastructure is running smoothly before the airlines move over. He added that BAA is laying on free shuttle buses for Qatar Airways and Saudi Airlines passengers who mistakenly turn up at the wrong terminal for their flight.
