Grosvenor House Dubai to open new tower

18 Nov 2010 by BusinessTraveller

Luxury Dubai property Grosvenor House will nearly double in size next year by opening a new tower targeted at business travellers and longer-stay guests.

The Residence at Grosvenor House will open in phases from May, with the full launch scheduled for October. Architecturally a mirror image of the existing 45-floor building, it will have 310 rooms – 106 will be Club rooms starting from 55 sqm in size, and the rest will be one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. The existing tower has 422 rooms.

Jaideep J Bhatia, the property’s director of marketing and communications, said it would feel “more like a home than a hotel” and would allow the property to appeal to “the two types of business traveller”, with the original building catering for those looking for a bed for the night, and the new tower designed for those who need more Club-style facilities.

A 24-hour Club lounge will take up half of the fifth floor and will include a dedicated family section, while “relationship managers” will take care of guests’ every request. The apartments in the original building will be reduced in size and converted into Super Deluxe bedrooms.

The tower will have four food and beverage outlets. A sister venue to the Embassy in London’s Mayfair, Embassy Dubai will be a members’ club spread across the top three levels of the building and will offer a “multi-lounging experience”, including European fine dining and seafood, oyster, champagne and vodka bars. The Residence will also have a restaurant headed up by US chef Richard Sandoval.

In addition, the tower will be home to “Buddhattitude”, a Tibetan-style spa from the people behind the Buddha Bar brand, with men’s and women’s treatment rooms, hammam pools and Turkish baths. There will also be a pool and gym.
