Transit and transfer passengers passing through Singapore’s Changi Airport will now be charged service and security fees at Changi Airport, while the Budget Terminal will hike its fees from April next year .
Those using the main airport will have to pay fees totalling up to S$12 (US$9.35), consisting of S$9 (US$7) for Passenger Service Charges (PSC) and S$3 (US$2) for Passenger Security Service Charges (PSSC).
Out of the 40 million passengers that Changi Airport handles annually, an estimated 13 million – just over 30 percent – fall under the transit and transfer categories.
Those going through the Budget Terminal will have to pay S$18 (US$14), up from S$15 (US$11.66).
The Changi Airport Group states that these raises are to recover costs “in order to fund future investments and deliver a reasonable shareholder return”.
