The big picture: Olympic-themed exhibition at Heathrow T5

26 Oct 2010 by BusinessTraveller

Passengers travelling through Heathrow’s Terminal 5 can currently enjoy an exhibition of 50 works of sport and Olympic-themed art by leading and emerging British artists.

The High Performance Art Exhibition will be based in T5 until the end of January 2011, as part of the lead up to the 2012 Olympics. Heathrow is the official airport of the Games, with hundreds of thousands of visitors expected during the event.

The exhibition forms part of Heathrow’s expo programme, which showcases “the best of British culture and commerce to provide a unique and unexpected dimension to passengers’ journeys”.

The works on display will also be available for sale, with proceeds split between the artist and the British Paralympic Charity, and prices ranging from a few hundred to several thousand pounds. Among the paintings, photographs and sculptures at the exhibition is a bronze torso sculpture of Paralympic gold medallist Lee Pearson.
