Iberia revamps mid-haul business class

22 Oct 2010 by BusinessTraveller

Iberia has launched its new Business Club product for medium-haul services to cities including Moscow and Tel Aviv. Benefits include a 50-inch seat pitch and PSP consoles preloaded with films and music.

The new offering has been installed on one of Iberia’s A319 aircraft, with four more due to be fitted out over the next few days. It will be available on flights between Spain and Cairo, Tel Aviv, Malabo, Moscow and Lagos.

The new seat is configured 2-2 and features a 50-inch seat pitch, 20-inch seat width, 30-degree recline, adjustable headrest, and extendable footrest.

In-flight entertainment will be in the form of individual Playstation Portable consoles, preloaded with ten “latest-release high definition” films, ten TV channels and ten music channels.

Other enhancements include a new amenity kit, and “a soft pillow and matching double-sided blanket, with a "polar" surface for extra warmth”. The business class meal menu has also been revamped, with dishes by Spanish chef Sergi Arola.

On the ground mid-haul business class passengers enjoy dedicated check-in facilities, fast track security, increased luggage allowance, lounge access and three days’ free car parking at Madrid or Barcelona airport.

The launch follows last year’s revamp of Iberia’s long-haul business class product, with a row of seats being removed from the premium cabin, enabling the remaining seats to be reclined to a fully-flat position (see online news November 2).
