Swire Hotels is to open a second East Hotel in 2012 in Beijing. The first property under the brand, East Hong Kong in Quarry Bay, appeared on the market earlier this year. A sister hotel, The Upper House, opened in 2009.
It is also the group’s second hotel in China’s capital, with The Opposite House in Sanlitun Village being the first.
East Beijing will be located at Jiang Tai in the Chaoyang between the 4th and 5th Ring Road, within Indigo, a mixed-use joint-venture development by Swire Properties and Sino-Ocean Land Holdings. Nearby are the offices of local and multinational corporations.
Highlights of the new EAST’s services include a paperless check-in and check-out experience and a one stop front-desk service staffed by a "guest experience" team.
Of the 369 planned guestrooms, 21 are suites, with all offering the latest in iPod-touch technology. Wifi is free throughout the building. Dining options include two restaurants and a bar, with the all-day restaurant Feast, several meeting venues such on the rooftop, indoor pool and gym.
Swire Hotels is not only busy in Asia but also in the UK where it is working on a collection of stylish boutique hotels in several English towns and cities, with the first hotel in the group to be launched before the year ends.
