London Gatwick has signed a deal for a new Hampton by Hilton property, due to open in time for the 2012 Olympic Games.
The signing, announced today (October 19), will allow hotel development and management company Shiva Hotels to begin redeveloping part of the airport’s North Terminal office facilities known as Longbridge House.
Work on the 192-room, mid-market property will begin early next year, subject to planning approval, and is expected to be completed in 2012. When finished, the new hotel will have a bar and restaurant, meetings rooms and a gym.
Emma Rees, Gatwick’s head of property, said passengers staying at Gatwick would soon have greater choice – either one of the four-star hotels around the North and South Terminals, or the “more affordable but luxury three-star” Hampton by Hilton.
