France braced for more strikes

18 Oct 2010 by BusinessTraveller

Flight delays and cancellations are likely in France tomorrow due to the latest air traffic controllers strike.

BA says that the strike will cause “delays and disruption to some of our flights into and out of France”, and advises passengers to check the status of their flights before leaving for the airport. Ryanair has cancelled over 200 flights either operating to or from French airport, or overflying France.

A scrolling headline on the homepage of the Aeroports de Paris website (the authority that owns and manages the 14 airports in the Paris area) says:

“Strike on 19 October: access to the airports may prove very difficult and air traffic may be disturbed.”

The air traffic controllers strike is part of a general strike in France, in protest at the government’s plans to reform the state pension system. Eurostar advises that its services will operate as normal into France, but that connecting services may be affected.
