Hong Kong Airlines has confirmed orders for 25 Airbus aircraft that would expand its present Airbus fleet to 33.
The US$5.7-billion order, which was first announced in July at the Farnborough International Airshow, includes 15 Airbus A350 and 10 A330-200 aircraft. They will be used on the airline's long-haul services to Europe and North America, which are currently being developed. At present, the Hong Kong Airlines' route network spans China, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam and Russia.
Delivery of the first A330-200s will begin in 2012, with the new A350 coming in from 2018. The carrier also has another 30 A320 single-aisle aircraft on firm order for future delivery.
