Lufthansa is to roster its superjumbo onto two flights into the popular German holiday destination of Mallorca during next month.
The flights in question will depart Frankfurt at 0920 on October 2 and 0845 on October 3, landing in Palma at 1120 and 1050 respectively, before returning at 1730 (both days), landing at 1945.
Lufthansa is promoting the special service as a day trip on the superjumbo, with prices starting at €99 in economy, €399 in business and €999 in first class (including a welcome kit on arrival in Mallorca). Note that passengers will only be allowed to take hand luggage on these flights, suggesting that the airport is not equipped to handle hold luggage for the A380.
The service appears to be aimed at promoting the superjumbo to the German leisure market, with Mallorca being a popular destination for German holidaymakers.
Lufthansa launched its A380 aircraft in May, and currently flies the superjumbo to Tokyo, Beijing and Johannesburg.
